The story of Tallpines begins not in the mountains of Bhutan, but in the rolling hills of Ohio, USA. After spending time living in the United States, Kinley Dorji was inspired by the warmth and spirit of a place called Tall Pines—the home of the Zimmerman family in Indian Hill, Cincinnati. This name, evoking a sense of warmth, welcome, and natural beauty, became the perfect emblem for his vision back home in Bhutan.
Since founding the company in 2014, Kinley has blended this international perspective with his deep, native love for the Himalayas. For him, the mountains and rivers of Bhutan are more than just a backdrop for adventure—they are his home, his office, and his greatest passion.
Kinley’s expertise is deeply rooted in firsthand experience. An avid mountain biker and a certified fly fishing instructor, he doesn’t just organize trips; he lives and breathes the activities that form the core of Tallpines’ adventures. This intimate knowledge ensures that every itinerary—whether focused on mountain biking, fly fishing, white water rafting, or trekking—is crafted with an insider’s precision.
His commitment to Bhutan’s outdoor landscape is profound. As a passionate trail builder, he has personally designed and constructed trails across central and western Bhutan. His significant contribution led him to serve as a trail advisor and consultant for the renowned Trans Bhutan Trail project.
At Tallpines, Kinley’s vision is to create a welcoming, personal base for discovery—a “Tall Pines” in the heart of the Himalayas. He works closely with every guest to design a tailor-made journey that is not just a vacation, but a transformative adventure.
Kinley Pelmo brings over a decade of invaluable experience from her role as a Human Resource Officer with Bhutan’s National Housing. She now channels her expertise in administration and her passion for helping people into her work as a Reservation Advisor at Tallpines.
Her background in HR ensures every client interaction is handled with exceptional care, precision, and a person-centric approach. “After years of working as a bike technician and trail builder, I decided it was time to take a more personal path—guiding riders through the incredible landscapes I know and love. With over 7 years of experience as a mountain biking guide in Bhutan, I’ve had the joy of leading guests from all over the world through ancient monasteries, remote villages, and dramatic mountain trails.
I’ve always believed that biking is more than just sport—it’s a way to connect with nature, culture, and people. Whether you’re an experienced rider looking for a challenge or just here to soak in the beauty, I’ll make sure your journey through Bhutan is smooth, safe, and unforgettable.
Tenzin Norbu, with a deep passion for exploring and sharing the heritage of Bhutan. This commitment was formalized through the DeSuung Skilling Program, where I completed a Cultural Tour Guide course. This training deepened my understanding of our nation’s history, traditions, and cultural stories.
My love for adventure, honed through years of mountain biking, is intertwined with this appreciation for our land. For me, exploration isn’t just about the physical landscape, but about connecting with the rich culture and people that define it.
