Best Fishing times in Bhutan

With the Fishing permit which is issued throughout the year except in December, January, and February the breeding season. March, April, May, and June are perfect for Trout fishing and as we move down south we have the Gamefish, the Golden Mahasheer. September, October, November, and December are best for the Game Fishes, the Golden Mahseer.


*Regulations of fishing 

The First and the fourth Bhutanese calendar months are considered holy months. Fishing is prohibited near Monasteries, Dzong, Bridges, Government institutions and religious centers. Fishing is not allowed on auspicious days like the 8th, 15th and the 30th day of every Bhutanese month and 4th day of the 6th month where stores selling meat would also be closed. Fishing is not allowed during the breeding season. Fishing is allowed with rod and reel like Fly Fishing, spinning or bait casters.
